Something Else! is a Soul Jazz revue led by Vincent Herring, a septet with a rotating lineup that features, in Vincent’s word, ‘the best musicians playing great music and enjoying it thoroughly, which becomes infectious’. The band play new arrangements of classics of the Soul Jazz genre (think Freddie Hubbard, George Benson, Horace Silver, Bobby Timmons…) plus original compositions in the same style. Something Else! shows are rich with soulful, funky, great improvisation that are hugely enjoyable for audiences.

The debut SOMETHING ELSE! recording due in 2024 on Smoke Records will include Vincent Herring, Jeremy Pelt, James Carter , Paul Bollenback, David Kikoski, Essiet Essiet and Jeff Watts.

Additional musicians available for SOMETHING ELSE! are Freddie Hendrix, on trumpet, Eric Alexander on tenor sax, Dave Stryker on guitar, Mike LeDonne on piano, Yasushi Nakamura or Boris Kozlov on bass. The drum chair rotates between Jeff “Tain” Watts, Johnathan Blake and Lewis Nash.
