We are delighted to announce that the Dizzy Gillespie Symphony Sessions are now signed to Columbia Artists Management.
For Dizzy Gillespie, playing in a small combo was never enough. His artistry compelled him to seek and to create larger ensembles because as a composer and arranger, a Symphony Orchestra was the ultimate vehicle for self-expression. Dizzy commissioned scores from some of his favourite arrangers for Symphony Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble; they can be performed with a quartet of trumpet, piano, bass, and drums, and additional soloists can be added as requested.
The Symphony Sessions are now led by bassist John Lee, who brings together Dizzy Gillespie alumni performers with local symphonies to continue this wonderful legacy.
